Matrigel®- Matrix for organoids


Corning® Matrigel is a hydrogel that can recreate extracellular matrix (ECM) for in vitro assays. It is extracted from Engelbreth-Holm-Swarm mouse sarcoma (EHS), a tumor rich in extracellular matrix proteins such as laminin, collagen IV, entactin, heparan sulfate proteoglycan and growth factors.

Matrigel® is used to promote the adhesion and differentiation of numerous cell types. Its applications include: regulation of gene expression in rat hepatocytes, neuronal regeneration, toxicological and metabolic studies, cell migration assays in oncology, angiogenesis studies, stem cell and hiPS maintenance, and spheroid and organoid growth and maintenance.

Matrigel is available in different formulations: standard (recommended for epithelial cells), high concentration (if higher matrix stiffness̀ and scaffold integrity is needed), Growth Factor Reduced (GFR) for applications where a much more defined basement membrane structure is required, Phenol Red free and hESC qualified for its use with STEMCELL Technologies' mTeSRTM1 medium.

Matrigel®- Matrix 3D Plate


Matrigel® Matrix 3D plates, available in 96- and 384-well formats, reduce work time and eliminate the need to dispense small volumes of ECM because the wells are already coated with the matrix. To learn more, download the brochure.


ULA Spheroid Plates


ULA spheroid plates, available in 96/384/1536-well sizes, are sterile and designed to generate and analyze 3D multicellular spheroids in the same plate. The plates are black with an optically transparent U-shaped bottom. The Ultra-Low Attachment surface promotes uniform and reproducible spheroid formation. Therefore, the formed structure can then be analyzed directly in the plate without the need for a transfer that could alter its peculiar characteristics.


Elplasia® Microplates

Corning® Elplasia® plates promote the growth of similarly sized, high-density spheroids through the use of microcavity technology. Application areas include in vitro tumor study, cancer drug screening, 3D tissue growth, and cell therapy research. These plates are available in different sizes (6/24/96 well), are Ultra Low Attachment, black (to reduce cross talk well-to well) with optical background (for both fluorescence and luminescence applications), are sterile, pyrogen-free, and come with lids in a single package. The microcavities in the wells allow growth from 79 to more than 15,000 spheroids/well.
